Beltway 8 / Sam Houston Tollway Updates

This information was posted recently by Pearland City Councilmember Keith Ordeneaux:

"Harris County Toll Road Authority and its contractor are continuing the work on the Sam Houston Beltway main lanes in the proximity of Kirby Drive. The City has been informed of a FULL CLOSURE of both the east bound and the west bound Sam Houston Tollway at the main Plaza from 6/28/13 at 9:00 PM until 7/1/13 at 5:00 AM.
East bound traffic will be forced off the Sam Houston Tollway at the Almeda Exit. There will be police officers stationed at the Kirby intersection and the SH 288 intersection. Traffic will be permitted back on once they have gone through the SH 288 intersection.
All traffic going west bound will be forced off at the SH 288 intersection and will be permitted back on at the west bound Almeda entrance. Again, police officers will be station at SH 288 and Kirby.
A PARTIAL CLOSURE is scheduled for the weekend of 7/5/13 to 7/8/13, the weekend after the 4th of July.
At this time, traffic should expect closures for 6 straight weekends.
During these closures, drivers can expect delays at the toll plazas. Because the work is sensitive to weather delays, and could be cancelled without notice, more exact information regarding the specific times for these closures is not available.
The City recommends that drivers seek alternate routes from the Kirby/Beltway area during this work to avoid delays during weekends. Once the City receives notification that this work has been completed, a revised notice will be published.
PLEASE EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION DURING THIS WORK.

ALL BUSINESSES IN THE AREA WILL REMAIN OPEN AND ACCESSIBLE THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION."
